A little about Colin
Hey, I'm Colin Cross.
Husband and father.
Drummer, mixer, and producer for Broke Royals, a DC-based indie band that has had songs featured on Billboard, Washington Post, and Apple Music editorial playlists.
I've spent time in professional studios. I've watched great engineers work. And I still spent years struggling to get my music to a level I was proud of.
What I eventually realized: as long as I was outsourcing mastering, I was capping how good I could get at every other step of the process. When I finally learned to do it myself, everything got better - my recordings, my mixes, and the final product.
That's what this challenge is about. I'm just like you, just a few years further along in the journey. If I can do this, I know you can too.

This challenge is about understanding the mastering concepts that are universal to any DAW.
That said, I'll be demonstrating in Logic and using some stock Logic plugins throughout. If you are working in another DAW, you can definitely still apply the knowledge with your own tools.
No. The concepts matter far more than the tools. If you have the stock plugins that come with your DAW (and maybe a few free or cheap plugins I'll show you during the challenge), you have everything you need to get real results from this challenge.
